Speakers Announced for DFI’s SuperPile ‘24

Hawthorne, N.J.:  Registration is open for SuperPile ’24 taking place June 12–14 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. This three-day event is supported by technical committees of both DFI and ADSC.

A highlight of the program is the keynote address “Life-Cycle-Based Considerations in Design of Driven Piles,” being delivered by Jason DeJong, Ph.D., University of California, Davis.

DeJong is also the director of the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure Center for Geotechnical Modeling and the University of California, Davis lead for the NSF’s Engineering Research Center for Bio-mediated and Bio-inspired Geotechnics. His major technical achievements have been in the areas of soil and site characterization, biogeotechnics, earthquake engineering, and geotechnical sustainability.

The program also features two invited speakers.

“The History of Deep Foundations in San Francisco,” by invited speakers, Lori Simpson, P.E., G.E., Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, and Byrl Williams, P.E., Foundation Constructors.

“Measuring Embodied Carbon in Foundations: Why, How and What’s Next?” by invited speaker Kimberly Martin, Ph.D., P.E., ENV SP, Keller.

SuperPile ’24 also features a panel discussion on “Geotechnical Risk Allocation in Design-Build Foundations;” DFI technical committee meetings; exhibits from more than 75 manufacturers, suppliers and service providers; and the Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF) networking reception.

The event is spearheaded by Conference Chair Brian McGlynn, P.E., regional sales engineer with Farrell Design-Build, a Menard Company, and Technical Program Chair Maura Ruffatto, P.E., principal engineer at Cornerstone Earth Group.
