JK Steel Products is seeking an experienced Yard Manager to oversee daily operations at its outdoor steel yard in Folkston, Georgia.
This full-time, in-person role is ideal for a hands-on leader with experience in yard supervision, warehouse management, logistics, construction, manufacturing, or a related field. The Yard Manager will help ensure safe operations, accurate inventory control, efficient material movement, and timely order fulfillment.
About the Role
The Yard Manager will be responsible for managing daily yard activities involving steel building supplies, including steel sheet pile and pipe. This position requires strong leadership, attention to safety, and the ability to coordinate people, equipment, inventory, and deliveries in a fast-paced outdoor yard environment.
The selected candidate will play an important role in maintaining smooth operations, enforcing safety standards, supporting staff performance, and ensuring materials are properly tracked, stored, and moved.
Key Responsibilities
Operations and Safety
The Yard Manager will maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times. Responsibilities include conducting daily site inspections, leading regular safety meetings, and enforcing OSHA and EPA regulations across all yard activities.
Inventory Control
This role includes tracking all incoming and outgoing equipment and materials, ensuring accurate inventory counts, and managing storage locations to maximize space utilization and retrieval efficiency.
Staff Management
The Yard Manager will train, schedule, and supervise yard employees and temporary staff. This includes overseeing daily yard activities to ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials, equipment, and vehicles.
Logistics and Equipment Maintenance
The position requires coordination with dispatchers to schedule and confirm deliveries. The Yard Manager will also perform preventative maintenance on forklifts, loaders, and other yard equipment, while conducting regular equipment inspections to ensure operational readiness.
Documentation
The Yard Manager will maintain accurate records of material movement, rental agreements, bills of lading, and maintenance reports.
Requirements
Qualified candidates should have 3 to 5 years of experience in yard supervision, warehouse management, or a related field. Experience in manufacturing, construction, or logistics is preferred.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Vocational or technical training is a plus.
Candidates should also have hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and excavators. Strong leadership skills, logistical knowledge, basic math and computer skills, and the ability to use spreadsheets and email are also important for this role.
Applicants must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. The position requires standing and walking for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds or more.
A valid driver’s license is required. A CDL is preferred. OSHA 10 certification is required.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $50,000 to $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience
