Stop Soil Loss & Stabilize Retaining Walls — Without Excavation

When a corroded retaining wall at an industrial site in Alaska started losing soil and shifting outward, full replacement wasn’t an option. The wall supported critical infrastructure — and asbestos in the facing made demolition complex. The contractor needed a non-invasive, high-performance stabilization method.

The Challenge:

The Solution:

In collaboration with the site engineers, our team partnered with the contractor to develop a dual polyurethane foam grouting plan utilizing two specialized products.

HS010 Single-Component Foam – Low-expansion foam to penetrate gravel, seal voids, and stop soil loss — all without adding pressure to the weakened wall.

HF402 Dual-Component Foam – High-expansion foam injected deeper to densify loose soils, boost bearing capacity, and stabilize the footing and access road.

This dual approach and engineered drawings assured the contractor the project over competitors while remaining highly profitable, had zero impact on the day-to-day facility operations, and involved zero production downtime.

The Result:

▪️Stopped active soil loss and sealed voids
▪️Improved bearing capacity of retained soils
▪️Prevented further wall and footing movement
▪️Delivered a durable fix — no excavation required
