SC-110 Urban: The Unrivalled Answer to Urban Foundation Challenges

At the heart of the Grand Paris Express project, on the Rueil – Suresnes Mont-Valérien station site along Line 15 West, Fayat Fondations has undertaken a highly complex operation: the construction of diaphragm wall panels with a thickness of 1200 mm, reaching depths of up to 38 meters, for a total excavation volume exceeding 14,000 m³. The urban environment—densely populated and surrounded by schools, offices, and residential buildings—demands technological solutions that combine high performance with minimal environmental impact.
This is precisely where the SC-110 Urban by Soilmec comes into play. Specifically designed for metropolitan construction sites, the machine features a compact architecture and a modular power pack, available in both diesel and electric versions. This flexibility allows for installation even in confined spaces, such as those found on the Paris job site. The ability to position the power unit laterally, at the rear, or on the ground greatly simplified logistics during the initial setup phase, which began in December 2024.
One of the most valued features by Fayat is the machine’s quiet operation: with noise emissions limited to 107 dB(A), the SC-110 Urban enabled work near sensitive buildings without compromising productivity. This proved essential for complying with local regulations and maintaining good relations with the surrounding community.
From a technical standpoint, the machine is equipped with SH-35 modules, featuring 110 kNm torque motors and a 450 m³/h mud pump, ensuring optimal excavation capacity for the production targets of the project. Panel verticality, crucial for the structural integrity of the future station, is maintained through tri-axial sensors, a DMS system in the cabin, and 12 instrumented flaps.
The SC-110 Urban’s operational versatility also allowed for quick adaptation to the required geometries, including the execution of “T” panels and the handling of widths ranging from 650 to 1500 mm, with lengths up to 3200 mm.
Another strategic advantage is the advanced filtration system, which protects the hydraulic circuit from contamination and helps reduce maintenance costs. In a project with tight schedules and little room for error, operational continuity becomes a competitive edge.
Finally, the BT cabin, developed with direct input from experienced operators, has enhanced both comfort and safety on site. The remote control system has streamlined operations such as transport, rope changes, and cutter maintenance, minimizing downtime and boosting productivity.
In summary, the SC-110 Urban is more than just a machine—it’s an integrated solution that has demonstrated remarkable reliability and outstanding performance in one of Europe’s most demanding urban construction environments. Feedback from Fayat Fondations confirms the value of the choice: precision, low noise, and ease of use have been key factors in the success of the project.
