Mike Elliott

Mike Elliott has announced his decision to retire after 49 years in the foundation construction industry.

“I’d like to thank my dear friend and colleague, Mike Elliott for his longtime service to ECA and our industry. During the span of 49 years in the foundation construction industry, Mike has helped a lot of contractors successfully complete their projects and touched a lot of lives.” – A. Roy Kern, Jr. President/CEO

Mike started his construction career with Mississippi Valley Equipment in 1972. In 1987, Mike teamed up with partners Mark Rutland and Dick Nelson to buy out MVE’s Florida Operations and established Pile Equipment, Inc. When Dick passed away in 1997, Mike was named President of PEI. Mike’s skills, knowledge and reputation in the foundation industry grew over the years and the company flourished. Mike has industry friends everywhere — colleagues, suppliers, customers, and competitors alike, and was an active contributor to professional organizations including PDCA, FTBA and DFI.

Throughout this time, Mike was a personal friend of A. Roy Kern, Jr. and a business partner as well – our respective companies occasionally pooling resources and getting involved in a number of joint ventures over the years.

When Mike and Mark began looking for a succession plan for their business in 2014, ECA stepped in and the companies (ECA & PEI) merged in 2015. Mike Elliott was immediately named a Vice President of ECA and Branch Manager of ECA Jacksonville.

“Mike has been a big factor in our expansion into the Southeast, as well as a valued leader and mentor to many.” – A. Roy Kern, Jr. President/CEO

Elliott’s retirement is effective Dec. 31, 2021, however he will remain on as a consultant.
