Isherwood Geostructural Engineers Acquires Macnab Consultants

We are pleased to announce that Isherwood Geostructural Engineers has acquired Macnab Consultants, uniting exceptional experience of more than 50 years of each entity’s hands-on practice in all arenas of deep foundation and anchored geo-support design and construction. This merger unites complementary strengths, specialized services and intellectual value expanding their combined portfolio in the United States and Canada. Services include Forensics Engineering, contributing to the safety and integrity of the industry, and Drilled Shaft Inspector Training, ensuring technical excellence and an opportunity to bolster operational improvement through knowledge and education.

Macnab Isherwood Forensics engineering (MIF) is a specialized forensics engineering firm dedicated to delivering high-quality failure analysis, constructability reviews, claims and expert litigation support as well as innovative remediation solutions in all phases of deep foundations and anchored earth retention design and construction. The firm leverages year’s long technical expertise, strong industry partnerships and a flexible consultant model to meet the growing demand for forensics engineering services. MIF’s highly experienced staff of Board Certified Geotechnical Engineers includes Alan Macnab, D.GE, P. Eng (Retired) and Past President of the ADSC: The International Association of Foundation Drilling, and ASCE’s Geo-Instititue, Isherwood President, Nadir Ansari, D.GE., P. Macnab, Burnett, Domitric training (MBD) provides an intensive 12-hour course focusing on the inspection of drilled shaft (bored piles, caisson) foundations. The highly acclaimed, and widely taught course, which has been presented for over 10 years, is designed for field personnel of utilities, such as: the electrical power and transmission distribution sectors, departments of transportation, as well as other owners or constructors of projects employing drilled shafts. Students will be introduced to reading geotechnical reports, plans and specifications, and the broad means and methods utilized by successful contractors. They will learn observation techniques as they relate to the placement of reinforcing cages and bolt configurations, placement of concrete through wet and dry methods, as well as how to record and report inspection findings to design professionals and administrative personnel. Properly trained inspectors add value to the performance and reliability of drilled foundation projects for all parties involved.

Means and Methods for Contractors: A special course for contactors, taught by leading construction experts, will focus on recommended means and methods for all aspects of drilled deep foundation and geo-support construction.

Courses can be delivered in a variety of formats including one-and-half, or two-day, in-person training, and the possibility of virtual programs.  Course instructors, all of whom have vast field experience, and are seasoned presenters are; Alan Macnab, D.
