Hubbell Power Systems Launches the CHANCE® DRIVECAST™ Screw Displacement Pile

A high capacity, fully-grouted solution for foundation support

Hubbell Power Systems, Inc. has launched CHANCE® Drivecast™ screw displacement pile, a new product solution which has been approved by the New York City Department of Design and Construction as a one-for-one substitute for CFA piles in Project SEQ002693[1]. Contractors troubled by sites with limitations to weight, overhead clearance and vibration restrictions now have an economical solution with the Drivecast pile. The product’s patent-pending design uses a unique soil displacement methodology ideal for these conditions.

The CHANCE Drivecast screw displacement pile is designed to exceed New York City building codes, is manufactured from structural steel, and meets the requirements for ASTM Standards A500, A572, A656, and A1018. This innovative anchoring solution provides versatile support of heavy loads in sites with limited access and low clearance, while eliminating vibrations and minimizing site disturbance. The pile is advanced by rotation into the soil utilizing a hydraulic drive-head. By design, the pile provides a cylindrical void, which allows a column of grout to be immediately pulled down from a gravity-fed grout reservoir. Drivecast piles are installed in sections, allowing non-specialized, lightweight equipment to provide minimal disruption to a project site. Drivecast piles do not create any spoils, which eliminates the need for stockpiling, off-site trucking or the disposal of contaminated materials.

Drivecast pile sections are comprised of a centralized steel shaft and a proprietary displacement module welded to the shaft. The depth requirements are achieved by adding extension sections. The Drivecast pile allows contractors to provide a fully grouted, steel pile with predictable capacities and quality control at limited access sites and a variety of soil conditions.
