Marine Equipment Solutions Expands Capabilities Through Certified Load Testing

Marine Equipment Solutions continues to invest in equipment, technology, and partnerships that support safer, more efficient operations for its customers.

A recent example is the addition of a new Pull Test Bed at Rasmussen Equipment’s facility in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Developed through Rasmussen’s partnership with Chant Engineering Co., the new system brings certified load testing and engineering validation services directly to customers.

The Pull Test Bed adds certified static and dynamic line-pull testing up to 400,000 pounds at Rasmussen. It complements MES’s existing 1.2-million-pound test bed at Pacific Gulf, which is designed specifically for wire rope assemblies.

With the new capability, Rasmussen can validate new designs, recertify existing equipment, and test custom assemblies while capturing measurable performance data. For winch applications, the system can test both pay-in function and brake holding power under load. Completed tests are supported by detailed documentation, including certified load test reports, equipment traceability, and certification records.

The investment responds to increasing customer demand for documented testing and recertification. More customers are asking whether rental winches meet applicable ASME B30.7 testing requirements, making performance verification an important step before equipment is placed into service.

By bringing this capability in-house, Rasmussen can load test both rental and rebuilt winches, adding another level of quality control to its rental and rebuild programs. The added testing support is intended to give customers greater confidence in the equipment they receive.

The new Pull Test Bed brings together Rasmussen’s marine equipment experience, Chant Engineering’s 56 years of testing innovation, and expanded support for testing, certification, inspection, and recertification. Across MES, the company continues to expand its capabilities with a focus on equipment, engineering expertise, testing services, and field support.
