The family-owned and operated general contractor has completed some of New England’s most challenging marine construction, bridge construction and land pile projects over the past 20 years.

Danvers, MA – February 10, 2014 – C. White Marine, Inc., a Danvers, MA-based company specializing in marine construction, bridge construction and the installation of land based foundation piles, celebrates 20 years of business this month. Over the last two decades, amid the ups-and-downs of the construction industry, C. White Marine has grown into one of New England’s most skilled and reliable contractors.

According to the company’s president, Larry White, who founded C. White Marine with his wife Cathy: “Our longevity and success is due to our hands-on work ethic. Cathy and I are 100 percent involved in running the business. Every client gets special attention that only an owner can give.”

The couple began C. White Marine in 1994 with a 40 Ton crane, a 35’ x115’ steel barge–and lots of experience. Larry worked his way up the ladder at another marine construction and pile driving company, from field laborer to president over a 15 year period. Cathy brought her customer service, marketing and administrative skills to the mix and they hit the ground running. Today, the company has several marine construction plants and land based equipment with crews that service the New England area meeting the needs of their clients with the responsive service they have built their reputation on. Their son, Dan, recently joined the company to assist Larry in day-to-day construction operations.

Clients of the general contractor include private businesses such as marinas and oil companies, and public entities like Massport, Massachusetts Department of Transportation, Mass Bay Transit Authority, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. C. White Marine also performs subcontract pile driving services for some of the leading general contractors in the area.

Current marine projects include multi-million dollar projects on the Town of Duxbury’s Powder Point Bridge, a historic half-mile-long timber bridge, and repairs to berthing facilities at an oil marine terminal in Boston, MA. “Construction along the water is always a challenge,” said Larry White, noting that his crews must follow the tides, work through harsh weather conditions, abide by environmental regulations and work around ship docking schedules. In 2011, C. White Marine received a commendation from the Town of Chilmark in Martha’s Vineyard for the company’s rapid completion of a 500-foot long concrete and steel drive on dock in the fishing village of Menemsha, MA.

C. White Marine regularly supports the community, participating in Women Build-Habitat for Humanity-North Shore in Danvers, MA and the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

As a member of ISNETWORLD, the company meets high standards of safety performance. C. White Marine has received the S.T.E.P. safety award from the Association of Builders and Contractors for the last eight years in recognition of their safety preparedness and performance and adherence to safety standards.

Cathy and I owe much of our success to our committed, hard -working employees, many of whom have been with us since the beginning,” stated Larry White. With their son now part of the team, Cathy White said, “We find it rewarding working together as a family-owned business and we look forward to a future of positive growth for C. White Marine.”
